Crochet Mister Chiquita Banana - Annoo's Crochet World - Pattern Review

Embroidered Doily/Coaster by Noreen Spicer.

Last week, a friend of mine requested a crocheted banana - not sure why, but why not?! Since I will be seeing him tomorrow, I figured I better hop to it!

I did a quick search on Pinterest, and found the Mister Chiquita Banana by Annoo of Annoo's Crochet World. While, it is a cute little amigurumi banana, I did not have the necessary supplies to add the details - so a plain banana it is!

Thanks for the request Adrian! Hope you enjoy your banana :)

This banana would also make a great play food toy for a child! I definitely plan on making at least one other one for my little cousins, Madison and Tyler. Madison enjoys "going to the market", so I'm sure her shopping cart could use a banana.

It can even be a cute addition to a monkey Halloween costume, or in an infant photo shoot.

Materials I Used:
   - G6/4.25mm Hook (different than the recommended hook)
   - Red Heart Super Saver in Bright Yellow
   - Red Heart Soft in Off White
   - 30ish Super Jumbo Cotton Balls (bought mine at Dollar General but you can get them lots of places!)
   - #18 Tapestry Needle (I use DMC brand)

Time Spent:
I was able to work up the banana from start to finish (including stuffing and weaving in my ends) in under two hours.

Measurements:
My banana came to measure 5.5" around the cream part, and 6" around the yellow part by 8" long. The peels extend out 3.5".

Pattern Notes:
I worked my piece in a continuous round so there wouldn't be a visible seam, and stuffed and weaved in my ends as I went along.

I had a lot of fun working on this banana! It even made me laugh a little.

Next on my list, the remaining fruits and a bowl!

Don't Crochet but Interested in Purchasing a Crocheted Banana?
I will be adding this item to my Etsy shop - feel free to send in your own requests!

  1. Oh how fun! I can totally see my daughter having fun playing with this. She loves playing kitchen and this is so much cooler than the boring plastic bananas she already has.

Thanks for sharing at my Yarn Fanatic Party! Can't wait to see what you have to share this week!

    1. I really enjoyed making this banana! Now, just need to work an unpeeled one for my little cousin's "market".
